Why You Need a Library Card

Cool things my library offers!
-asl classes over the summer
-an all-ages welcome summer reading program
-audio recording booth
-adulting classes
-art and craft classes
-genealogy interest clubs, dnd clubs, a book club, and almost certainly a couple other clubs
-test prep guides and resources (books, tutoring, etc)
-ghost hunting kits
-board games
-video games
-pickleball kits
-craft kits
-a seed library
Most libraries will also offer
-books, including audiobooks, and sometimes even books in braille
-dvds you can check out (sometimes you need to pay, but it’s usually not more than a dollar)
-cds
-magazines
-the ability to make holds online (an extremely useful feature if the book you want is already checked out)
-the ability to request books be added to the library’s collection
-Hard-to-find books about your local area, they may not be out in the open but are likely available by request
Be sure to look up all the libraries in your area, apply for as many cards as you can to maximize what you can do, and look through all their websites because they will often advertise upcoming events and things you can check out, and most library websites have a catalog search feature that lets you search specific pieces of media to see if it’s available.

My library has this thing called a 'culture pass' where it gets you free admission into a lot of historical or culturally significant sites around my state, like gardens and museums! They come with 2 free tickets so you can even bring a friend :D

I’ve had my library card for 3 years now and it’s the best! I get to borrow hotspot, cameras, free stuff and use the sewing machine at the library! In other local libraries, you can even borrow an electric knife sharpener but it’s only available to the residents. Totally worth it and doesn’t cost you a penny.

Mine even lets me check out video games. I played Pikmin 1 and 2 courtesy of my local library.

Libby is so awesome! I've saved so much money getting ebooks on there compared to buying books new at bookstores. A good tip is to go to a bookstore and find some books you wanna read, but instead of purchasing them just put them on hold in the app!

Honestly Libby is so amazing. You have access to thousands of books right from your phone. Although some books have waits, you can put holds on many books at a time. If you don’t feel like reading a book when it’s ready, you can set back the hold. It’s very simple to use and gives me entertainment every single day.
