The reason for that Calabiyau is an existing academic term, which could pose potential issues during trademark registration. In Chinese, to address this problem, the game’s name was changed from 卡拉比丘 to 卡拉彼丘, altering just one character while keeping the pronunciation the same. However, in English, which relies on phonetics, a completely new name had to be chosen.

The anime style, the movement, the skills, the characters, and the way the game system is basically CSGO so most people would be familiar with it.

Man, ever since you me, and all my close friends quit SMC (because netease is being netease) we have been just drifting around looking for something to fill that hole that SMC left. I remember listening toy ou talk about Calabiyau many years ago when it was still new but i never imagined it would eventually become the game i look forward to as an SMC replacement >.<

abilities base shooters will always have a niche fanbase unless they do something completely unique in concepts, the game needs more unique gamemode so far it's does have some unique aspects like flattened 2d yourself to walk on wall or dodge, flying like a paper, .. but tbh they feel like annoying than fun features. They need some other gamemodes I guess, maybe pve, defense pve, ..

I still don't get WHY they'd prioritize the western market more than SEA. I waited for a lot of games to be released in SEA but gets an NA version instead and our region never gets it. 90% of the time it fails because not a lot of gamers there are into the anime aesthetics.

And when NA fails, the chances for more regions to get their game plummets deeper than challenger deep. Japan is pretty strict with their region locks so I doubt outsiders can register for beta~
