I had some friends over with their kids and they were talking about horror movies so I played them the blob. They laughed at it in the beginning but by the end they were perfectly quiet.

The Blob is one of the very few remakes that actually compliments the original while exceeding at what it does, the 80's had quite a few horror and non horror remakes and I guess the 2000sish years had a few too, though The Blob is a special kind if remake that doesn't rip off scenes from the original... it remade them the proper way with thoughtfulness and admiration

1988' s the blob is one of the freaking best horror movies ever. Well done, well acted, nice sfx and great execution.

This movie along with John Carpenter's The Thing are two horror films that genuinely scared the living hell out of me when I was growing up, after I watched each one respectively for the first time I slept with one eye open over a week.

Absolutely scared the shit out of me when I was younger. The movie is unrelenting on having the blob creature do the craziest nasty melting attacks on people and depicting it in most descriptive way possible. Thank you so much for doing a deep dive on this.

I was front row, when it debuted at my theater. Loved it as a 15yr old & as a 50yr old, own it & frequently, still watch it.

Many condolences on your Dad's passing. And this is a great episode btw. "The Blob", "The Thing" and "The Fly" remakes rank as some of the greatest horror flicks ever produced in my humble opinion, and are certainly the last and greatest of the analog and puppeteering effects movies (I'd give honorable mention to the first two "Hellraiser" films for the same on effects) as well.
