I know it's more common to be abandoned and have relationship problems with your father, but when it's with your mother, like in my case, you really become colder towards life.

Im no expert on this series, but i feel like the reason why she ignores him not out hatred or resentment for him, but out of guilt for her own failures. She's the mother in an already broken family, with a father who sees his son as a failure. His mother, not able to stand up to her husband, simply grows apathetic to kuze out of sheer powerlessness to help him. I think she still loves him, and that shows when she asked the sister if shes still close to kuze. She knows she doesnt have the guts to stand up to her husband, but shes willing to go through the motions of his expectations knowing that kuze still has his sister there to provide some form of familial support.
