Today we are tackling DCC and wiring for DCC. This is something that a lot of you have asked about and I wanted to put out a video for it since I am currently wiring for DCC!

“The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again.
But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.
Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall;
don’t be happy when they stumble.
For the Lord will be displeased with you
and will turn his anger away from them.
Don’t fret because of evildoers;
don’t envy the wicked.”

I was an electrician. They sell drill bits that are long enough to go through several inches, and feet, of material. Before you pull the bit back out after drilling the hole, tape a pull wire to it and then pull the wire through when pulling out the drill bit. Some bits have a small hole on the tip to insert a wire to be pulled back through. If not, you can drill a hole in the tip of the bit. I love your videos!!!

I have never found a wiring video so helpful before, you demonstrated the process so clearly, this means so much, thank you.

Great video, Jimmy! Very helpful! I use blue and white wires for my 16-gauge bus wires, to match the blue and white wires of the Kato terminal unijoiners. This helps me avoid confusion. I also use terminal barrier strips as you do. Barrier strips help me keep everything organized and easier to trouble-shoot later on, if necessary. ...Roy

Jimmy!! I appreciate that you matched the flashing arrows to the beat of the music. That would’ve driven me nuts!!
Great video!

Thank you for this. Everyone I talk to says I can't run DCC on Kato Unitrak and you just made it look so easy and proved it can be done. Thank you.

Thanks for the straight forward steps Jimmy, I've decided I'm gonna make the leap into converting my DC layout into DCC! So excited to start this new chapter in the hobby, I'll definitely be coming back to this video once I get things started!

Best DCC tutorial I have seen. Thanks for the education.

Nicely explained. Some many tutorials on YouTube make it very blabby and complicated. Thanks Jimmy. Cheers 🍻

6:26 as a carpenter, if you have a long deep hole to drill, you don't need an actual drill bit. You can get a long piece of 1/4" rod, grind the end to a 3 sided point, voila, you got a drill that will "ream" itself though the foam. Now if you have a plywood support or base, yes you'll need an actual drill.

If you need longer drills, go to your local hardware store and look for aviation drills. They are 12" long. I needed a couple 1/8" dia 7" deep. It was funny standing back 12" from the surface to drill such shallow holes but standard 1/8" bits are only about 4" long and there was nothing in between.

I also have 2' and 3' bit extenders I put on my drill for securing drywall to ceilings. They have a hex end and a gripper at the other. I secure the drywall to the ceiling on ladders in 6 or 8 places then walk around on the floor securing the rest of the 48 screws. So much easier than moving the ladder around 50 times.

3:00 I used PWM to control my CNC machine and when I equipped it with a laser. It took watching a digital slot car track tutorial to fully understand how it worked. Pretty amazing when you think about it.
