Sometimes I get really surprised of how aware kids are this days. The next generation of adults is going to be so smart and epic.

That old dude has like 900 facebook friends more than me, a 25 year old. Did he send everyone he's ever met in his 70 years a friendship request

I'm 22 and I use social media more often than I should, I don't even post that much I just like seeing what other people are doing, or in the case of Instagram I like looking at food, art and animal pictures. However I didn't have any social media until I was 15 and I really don't think young kids should have it. I have 2 sisters aged 9 and 11 and I don't let them have social media because their minds are just not at the capacity to handle the inner workings of social media at their age.

Social media is great and all if you don't let it take too much control of your life but most of the times it does without you even realising it.
The usage of social media in this generation (including me) is because of FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) bordering on paranoia.

It's amazing how, nowadays, we have children so mature and elders so young, if you know what I mean.

I am 13 and I am literally on social media all the time. It is all I use my phone for, I never text or call anyone. I am on social media for an absolute minimum of 7 hours a day.

Why do videos like this perceive social media/electronics/internet as a bad thing so much? For one, if you're really sensitive to bullying, make your personal accounts private. Also, so many people wouldn't have contact with friends without the internet. I moved about a year ago far from my friends and without my phone, I'd have no contact with my friends. I'm also homeschooled now, so without it is be almost completely isolated. My dad also lives really far away from me so without my phone, I'd only get to speak to him once or twice a year. I do think people need to disconnect more, but they never think about the situations. I'm also an introvert and I have bad anxiety so it's really hard to speak to people in person. People have different circumstances so I think people just need to respect that :/

Yeap, it has really run much of my time and I am addicted to it. I don't want to be controlled by FB and INS anymore, having to control myself to enjoy the world physically.

This video seems to be all about the personal uses of social media and the socialising side of it, ask people who use it for business and sharing content (e.g. Influencers) it would be interesting to see what their response is in comparison to this, some people have amazing techniques to use it to their advantage rather than just losing touch with the real world etc

A social media issue I don’t think we consider enough is old content/photos/posts that people can use “against” individuals later in life. I know I look at my social media that I’ve had for over a decade and I am so different than the me that posted stupid things at 18. But it’s still there. I could delete it of course, but I also like to see what I did, how I’ve grown, who I was, etc. But what if one day I want to run for office and someone pulls out something dumb that present day me obviously disagrees with? The internet lives forever and I think soon we’ll have to deal with what “matters” from someone’s past and what doesn’t. How many years ago makes you and the content you agreed with then different than you are now? Two years? Four? Especially for the children of millennials who’s lives are already online without their consent. We will see!

I use social media to spread my art and hopefully laughter. It is a problem though ... some see their internet popularity as self-worth which is a giant no-no.

Felt quite bad for the older person at 2:32 .Older people must feel quite distanced from the internet era. Yes this happens with all eras but internet era is completely different.
