A new New York Times investigation looks into how Amazon treats its employees. Pulitzer Prize-winning correspondent Jodi Kantor joins “CBS This Morning” with why some employees say the company left them confused, scared and eventually unemployed.

Each weekday morning, "CBS This Morning" co-hosts Gayle King, Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil deliver two hours of original reporting, breaking news and top-level newsmaker interviews in an engaging and informative format that challenges the norm in network morning news programs.

Its not only amazon, its all these companies now days, the turnover rates is crazy cause they don't care about people, they care about big profits that's all, they say all the time you are replaceable, use you like human robot's then say buck you.

Thanks for continuing to focus on this. I gave up my Amazon membership a little over a year ago and haven’t missed it.

Right on. The world needs a better philosophy. People are more important than profits. A novel idea. Companies that recognize that will have the best people

For the owner to have over 100 billion+ this shouldn't even happen.

I was a former employee for Amazon as a delivery driver of South Gate, CA. For 7 months, I have been drained, tired, emotional, stressed, etc… delivering 250-300 items a day before the sun sets. I kept letting my boss know about the issues and I had a feeling that they don’t care. The day I got fired from Amazon was the best day of my life. Never apply to Amazon. It’s not worth $15-$17 an hour.

Unionize Unionize A hard nosed union will stop the abuse of the working people.

We have the power to stop Amazon if we get together and make a difference

That type of turnover makes it impossible to unionize. How do you organize with other employees if your all gone (quit/fired) within 8 months?

"people are inherently lazy" - WOW! Bezos should know that because his business is modeled around that idea

Hi there, Amazon employee here in Texas. In my building we don’t have an HR.. we have to use a computer HR.. which half the time doesn’t work. On top of that.. we are in a massive heat wave here, with no ac units or fans. I’m walking 22-25K steps everyday. I have seen maybe 50 new people come and go within 3 weeks..

He is like a real world villain and he looks like one too - getting greedy, heartless Lex Luthor vibes.

I worked their for 2 years and let me tell you the work itself is not bad lifting boxes everyday killed me but it was something that I had to do. The only thing that i didn’t tolerate and had to deal with almost every week is the level of disrespect that the managers and PA’s (supervisors) put you through was beyond me, I had a supervisor who yelled at me and cussed at me in front of all of the other associates because I was the only one working in my cell and my partner was no where to be found and of course my line got backed up and I immediately told HR about it I got called in to their office and basically the head of HR was accusing me that it was my fault I had told him if the PA would’ve pulled me aside and would’ve at least told me one on one “hey you know what can you please tell me why your line is getting backed up” I would’ve at least appreciate that he told me Personally but no he decided to yell at me. I was told by HR “well look into it” but they did nothing not even an apology I still had to see the supervisor eye to eye each time it was his turn to run the shift I was scared to even walk in front of him because he knows I reported him and they did nothing and that gave him the opportunity to still disrespect me and others. Your time is always held against you if you need to go to the bathroom you had to race to it. During the pandemic Managers will constantly give write ups to associates for not social distancing but yet they never did any distancing among themselves and when we had visits from osha they made sure to tell us to act normal for them to not look bad themselves Amazon is a great paying job that gave me a lot of learning skills but it is a place where you have to have thick skin and you have to stand up for yourself never be quiet when you know your managers are in the wrong it is not a place for nice people because the level of disrespect in that work environment is sad.

It has taken a huge company to receive attention to these issues. Some smaller companies have operated this way for a long time. I’m glad this has been brought to light.
