Making an EPIC Star Trail Time Lapse

Last Photography vlog I made a pretty epic star trail time lapse. So I wanted to share with you how to make one.

On today's photography teaching episode I show you how make a star trail time lapse. It's obviously a little bit different than a regular star time lapse. There are a number of different steps to go through including using a star trail stacking program called StarStax.
In general, though, I was pretty surprised at how easily the star trail time lapse was made. In fact, with a good starry night, I think that anyone could make a star trail time lapse pretty easily.

Laugharne and the castle is such an atmospheric place. Great to see it in an amazing time lapse. The small boathouse on the hill is where Dylan Thomas Lived.

Thank you! I've been using StarStax for 2 years now, but not for making a time lapse star trail video. I can't wait to get out for next new moon to give this a try.

Have to agree that was very epic. Nice work and seems to be pretty straight forward and easy. I'm headed to Hawaii next month so maybe give it a try.

Good video. Using the "comet mode" in StarStaX results in a nice effect. The same process can be used with a setting moon or night clouds for interesting time-lapse videos.

Oh my god thank you so much for sharing this, I could always do star trails and timelapses, I'm not great at it lol but I always wondered how people made those star trail timelapses and how they edit it. It really bugged me that I couldn't figure it out and now watching your video, you made it really simple and thank you thank you thank you lol bring on the clear night skies now

“Larn” is how it’s pronounced but don’t worry I live here and can’t pronounce half the places haha. Having a welsh speaking mrs makes that hilarious as you’d imagine. Wonderful images. Never tried star trailing. As mentioned below Dylan thomas’ boat house is cute. Not photogenic from my visits tho. Cool to see tho. Nice vid mate. Great to see wales on your channel..! Thanks for spreading the word on our beautiful country 😊👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿❤️

If you want to have a continuous trail without gaps, you can choose to "gap filling" at the "blending mode" in "preferences"

Been using this for a few years now. Brilliant bit of software. Play about with comet mode to get a better effect with the star trails. Great video as usual mate
