'La Traviata' Moving Moment, featuring Nicole Cabell

It's the night of Violetta Valéry's party, and a young man has just approached her, offering vows of unswerving love. Courtesan though she is, Violetta is caught off guard. Could this young man actually be her soulmate?

In the aria "Sempre Libera," she tries to laugh off the prospect of commitment, doubling down on her desire to be unfettered by men. "Always free, I flutter from joy to joy," she sings. "I want my life to flow down the path of pleasure. Whether the day is dawning or dying, there is always new happiness, new delights."

But soon a voice in the distance will give her pause. It is the young man, Alfredo, declaring his love for her — and try as she might, Violetta cannot resist.
