US President Biden, China's President Xi discuss need for peace in Ukraine

U.S. President Joe Biden has spoken with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping about the war in Ukraine, amid worries Beijing could potentially support Moscow.

The leaders of the two most powerful countries in the world spoke for close to two hours via video link about the ongoing crisis.

China's state news agency reported President Xi told the U.S. President, "the Ukraine crisis is something we don't want to see," adding that as the world's two largest economies must "shoulder our due international responsibilities and make efforts for world peace."

Heather Yourex-West explains China's official stance on the invasion, and the worries about it also benefitting from the conflict.
