Why are there many donated kidneys that are not used? I am an R.N. and only heard about this recently. I think that this issue must be acknowledged to the public and addressed. Having people who are in desperate need of a kidney while having kidney surgeons offered kidneys but refusing them seems totally unacceptable. Some people are being told they must have a living donor to have a transplant based on their age, while donated kidneys are being tossed.
