My 22 yr old son & I have almost every model of folding knives that Cold Steel makes. These are the toughest knives I've seen in my 59 yrs. Plus I like the way Lynn puts his knives thru these tests...something no other knife company does. His sales techniques are excellent & I believe the other knife manufacturers can't equal his knives' standards. How many other knife companies put their product thru such rigorous tests? None that I've seen! Keep up the great work, Lynn.

My favorite is CS Voyager Clip Large. A great knife for nature tourism. The knife is just in case, and every case happens. For the city I will buy Hold Out 3. Thank you, Lynn. From Moscow with love.

I have this style in the boot knife. It is a gem and one of my favorites.
I have a bunch of Cold Steel knives and I don't "need" anymore but I think I need a few of these. They're officially on my list as of today.

I like that he's not afraid and makes a point to address the weaknesses of the knives. helps decide on the right one for your needs.

I just got my hold out 3 guys. I love it! Sometimes I can't decide if I like the medium Voyager clip or hold out 3 better. Solution. I just carry both! Lol. I am a mechanic and wear pocket uniform shirts. I couldn't agree more. Holdout 3 is great to slip in shirt pocket!

I recently picked up a Hold Out XL on a whim, and let me tell you, this knife has quickly become one of my favorites. It feels amazing and very reassuring in the hand, cuts through anything I throw at it like butter, and carryies so well for such a large knife. If you're thinking about getting one, you'll love it!

The Holdout 1 is a monster of a knife. I bought mind years and it still looks like I just took it out of the box despite lots of practice cuts and the training I put myself through to familiarize myself with its reach and capabilities. This is one of my favorite knives in my whole collection and I have a LOT of knives, machetes and swords. I carry either this or my Spyderco Civilian as my EDC and let me tell you, either one of these is a deterrent to assault just based on appearance alone. Not even taking into account the massive damage they would inflict on an assailant. Well done on the Holdout fellas.

Lynn, I have both the Hold out 1 in the 6" plain blade in cts-xhp steel and the Hold out 2 with the 4" blade also in the same steel. LOVE THEM BOTH and would never part with either of them. You're 100% right, the 1 is an intimidating BEAST and love that piercing point. I also like the 4" because it's smaller which I find easier to carry. Like them so much that I gave my nephew a RAWLES VOYAGER XL tanto point since he loved my Hold outs and wanted to put a big smile on his face. So sorry to see them discontinued. But, thank you for making them !

i have a question out of curiosity. I' m a huge fan of your knives and i own many CS folders. I am also a collector so that means that i have many other knives of many other brands. through years CS proven to be the best in terms of toughness and design. My question is, why AUS 8 to all folders? i mean, it's a good steel, yet i believe that many people would pay some more for a hold out or an espada with S30V or 154cm. if you did that, i truly believe that nobody would ever buy anything else!

I received the knife 2 weeks ago. I held off using it, so I could test it on some of our heavier fabrics. Last night I put it to the test, and it performed significantly better than my previous experience with AUS8. After several cuts, I found the edge had rolled and there were several flat spots on the blade. I got out my strop and with a little bit of work, it was sharp again. It does not have the edge retention of my knife with 154cm, but over all, it performed good. I am satisfied with it.
