The original screenplay looks like the only major category willing to honor genre movies (sci fi, horror, comedy)
there are some really great winners here (Parasite, Her, American Beauty, Lost in Translation, Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind) and others not so great (Green Book, The King's Speech, The Hurt Locker, Crash...)

As im sitting here writing my first ever novel, i think of how itcould impact the world. The act of surrender is one of true virtue, andhow i created a story on the battle with my ego. I know i can get this out there, and i know i can not only win a pulitzer and nobel prize for fiction, but i can win an academy award for the screenplay. My life has been one huge journey, and as a self proclaimed coward, it will become a masterpiece, and will tell my story of how i had to learn to fight my ego, and keep it contained as to be able to live and enjoy life.

I finally watched "Almost Famous" last night: great movie, with perfect pacing (nerver boring, never too comedic) and no disappointments. Made me wish I was on the road in the '70s

It's amazing that both Sofia Coppola and Spike Jonze win an Oscar in the same category. Both Lost in Translation and Her have achieved cult status and that's no easy feat❤

So many of these films have absolutely insanely good sceenplays, honestly picking the best is nearly impossible but Manchester By The Sea, Parasite, American Beauty, Little Miss Sunshine, Spotlight and Almost Famous are as close as you can get to perfect screewriting in my opinion
