The first two albums with Ronnie James Dio are pretty good. I even like a few songs on the Ian Gillan album.

Ronnie delivered the best Black Sabbath records. The Sabbath franchise moved in a different direction at this point, they had to and no one could have done it better.

One of those bands where every member was crucial to the sound. They were absolutely great with Dio, but a different animal for sure.

No Bill Ward will result in a diminished Sabbath, no way around it.

i used to be of the opinion that anything after ozzy wasn’t truly sabbath, but i’ve really grown to appreciate the dio albums, as well as the tony martin albums. iommi’s consistently heavy riffs really helped me enjoy post-ozzy sabbath. i’d argue iommi had some of his greatest riffs after ozzy: i.e. heaven and hell, computer god, headless cross, to name a few

I liked Dio and I also liked Glen Hughes with them, but nothing beat Ozzy.

I saw Van Halen open for Black Sabbath.
Tony, Ozzy, Geezer and Bill were the better band that night. By a long way.
Nobody can replace any of them and still be Black Sabbath.
