As a child I was allowed to watch a TV show once a week called 'Circle of Fear'. This messed me up to the point where I imagined everything I saw on TV in my home! I was afraid of the dark, the hallway (bc it was dark), the fireplace & my closet. When the Exorcist came out I wasn't allowed to watch it but I heard about it & thought I felt my bed move. I then wore a cross for 6 months & thought if I took it off I become - possessed! I was raised Greek Orthodox & was told the devil is real..so - message to parents: Do not let your kids watch scary movies when they are 7 years old !

I read the book one night . I was totally fascinated by it . It was more intriguing than frightening as it went right into the study of different religious beliefs from different cultures etc, not just demonism.

I had a Quija board when I was around 12, '75. Playing with it quickly became accusations of, "You're moving it!" and the suspicion one may be possessed by boredom but not demons. Backgammon or chess were preferable choices.

This risible game raises questions. Why do players need to touch the planchette? Cannot demons move it on their own? If the board and planchette were placed in a sealed clear box and questions asked would there be a response? Where did demons learn English? And if questions were asked in say, Chinese or Hindi could the demons translate the question and respond in English or does each language require its own board?
