This tutorial is old, as I used the old version of Roblox Blender Import/Export Plugin, which is discontinued and buggy.

I have seen many people comment on this video that they have a problem when setting up the blender to animate roblox (including rig problem). Certain people said that the python file is outdated (only compatible for old blender like 2.8), rig's bone not appear, and more.

I may not able to help to solve the problems, since i didn't encounter any flaw when i setup this blender and animate it for the first time.

But right now, i animate roblox animation using Blender 3.5 version. I did not receive any problems using 3.5. However, i wouldn't recommend to take a risk using latest version like Blender 4.0 and above (probably it that python file not compatible with the latest version.)

Try test it out using Blender 3.5 and see if it resolves the problems.

For anyone who's having the problem where only the bones move and not the limbs, you need to parent the limbs to the bones. To do this, go into Object Mode and select the limb, shift click the bone, then go into pose mode, reselect the same bone, press Ctrl + P, and then click the Bone option. This should fix it.

For anyone using blender version 4, you must replace line 439 in the python file with "bpy.ops.wm.obj_import(filepath=self.properties.filepath, use_split_groups=True)". I dont know if it will just work in notepad but i used visual studio code. You must follow the indentation of the line that you replaced. After replacing, save the file and continue on with the video

Thank you so much for this, I've been animating on moon animator for a year and a half now and it's been so annoying to smoothen the animation, and some of the tutorials on how to animate in blender havent been working, this actually helped me and my friends with our game's animations. <333

for beggineers animating blender there is a a button with just a white circle on it and thats automactic keyframe so every pose you make you press "I" (good for kinda complex rigs)

for anyone having the problem where the animation won't play when you import it its probably because the animation does work but it won't play on the blender plugin on roblox so in that case try uploading the roblox animation when you import the animation and decline the upload and you will something called a keyframe sequence on the explorer tab and after that use the import feature on the moon animator plugin and select the keyframe sequence hopefully this helps

Whenever you import your rig, if it's far away and not in the center it's because your rig wasn't in the center of your roblox studio world. Make sure everything is set to 0, 0, 0.

I found a fix for anyone facing the issue of not seeing the bones in blender.
All you have to do is go to the model of the rig and set the primary part as HumanoidRootPart and anchor the HumanoidRootPart before using the blender plugin to import the rig. hope this helped someone 👍
