The 18th century ran from 1700 to 1799. I think you're a couple of hundred years out on the dating. Late 20th most like.😁

Not 18th century.
I would have left more patina on it, not a fan of the mirror finish.
Won't the bare metal parts rust again fast?
How did you attach the thin yellow metal strips (springs?) to the main body?

Conppetely ruin a perfectly built pipe wrech why did you decide to cut that stupid pattern into the adjuusting nut ? And its definitely not from the 18th centuray a simple google search shows that the first wrech of that style didnt get released until around 1869

Why paint it yellow it looks ugly but good overall restoration just not a fan of the colour
