My oldest brother said that repentance isn’t Biblical and God chooses who goes to Heaven and who goes to Hell I don’t believe that he is a calvinist

Repent in the STRONGS CONCORDANCE is METANOIA; it means a change of mind.

The LORD repented many times in scripture, here’s a few ….

Amos 7:6
1 Samuel 15:35
Jeremiah 20:16
Jeremiah 26:19
Jonah 3:10
Zachariah 8:14
Psalm 135:14


Repent in scripture has little to do with turning from SIN. It has MUCH to do with changing our minds from our UNBELIEF in CHRIST. Any atheist and all world religions are capable of REPENTING!!
However the repentance unto SALVATION is to BELIEVE

“and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and BELIEVE the gospel.”

Pastor is wrong, there is only ONE criteria for salvation and that is to BELIEVE ON CHRIST. All believers are then SUPERNATURALLY IMPUTED with HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, HIS Holy Spirit! It is by HIS SPIRIT that we are guided and molded throughout our lifetime to bring the BELIEVER who is a SINNER to a life pleasing to God.
Many take years of conviction, others are fast learners and many die in their addictions yet they are SAVED ( past tense)

“and brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, BELIEVE on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou sha lt be saved, and thy house.”

“As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, ONLY BELIEVE.”
