UK Inflation: Pressure on consumers eases while chances of a 'stickier' inflation rises

Inflation has fallen out of double digits for the first time since last summer - down from 10.1% in March to 8.7% in April.

Finally, the cost of living crisis - or rather the rate at which the crisis is worsening - is beginning to abate.

However, core inflation, measuring the rate of price changes stripped of fuel and food prices, rose from 6.2% to 6.8%, the highest level in three decades, suggesting there's a chance inflation is becoming embedded in the economy.

8.7% is still ridiculous, and the figures are still be fiddled with because prices out there are far more expensive, some goods have double in price. This is all WEF. Brazil, Russia and China's inflation far lower too. Disgusting that is.

I can't afford to purchase £3.50 Fray Bentos pies today so I'm having to use up my stock of Fray Bentos pies I purchased from a year ago which cost £0.67. They say food inflation is only 19%

If he knew anything about the economy he wounldn't be telling the public, he'd be working on behalf of the ultra wealthy placing bets.

The increase is caused each time the bank puts up interest rates also the government inaction on profiteering by supermarkets and energy companies, the way to bring inflation down is to lower prices and that needs government to reduce energy prices, fuel taxes and to fine supermarket's.

That is a very good and insightful report on the situations. The fact that wages aren't matching the level in the 1990's, while most expenses are rising, does give solid reasons for huge wage rises to compensate for the price pressures on consumers.

I guess Liz Truss hasn't helped with that.

It's 'stickier' because businesses are profiterring...money the root to all evil.

Brexit made transport to the UK a nightmare, long waiting time at the border and no return freight. That makes food a lot more expensive since most comes from the EU...

Inflation is additional tax. The government increased the taxes with 10% even to the poorest of us. I need the name of the person that caused this
