Here's a mistake most people make: using line that's too thick.

They think that since there's a chance they'll catch the big one, they need strong line.

But it's not true!

If you're fishing open flats, you can catch 30-40 lb. fish with 10-20 lb. braid.

Braid is surprisingly strong.

And not only is using thick line unnecessary, but it also could be the reason you're not catching as many fish as you think you should be,

So in this video, you'll learn:

- 3 reasons why thick line causes you to miss fish
- When you want thicker line vs. thinner line
- And much more

If you want to step up your fishing game to the next level, you're going to love this video.

Have any questions about what line to use when inshore saltwater fishing?

Great points. When mono was all there was, my father used 4# Stren, while others used 10# plus line (fresh water). He used a quality reel, and set drag light. Caught way more fish than others, in same skiff, using same lures. The small diameter line gave him 50% more fishing area, and much more lure action. He landed huge Pike (15#) and Walleye (8-10#), in open water. Lighter line & drag, more finesse/patience in the fight, was his key to success.

I noticed on several vid clips you are using the kastking Sharky reel. It is a very underrated inshore reel. I wouldn't put large fish on it but as a trout reel it's perfect for the price.

Beginner here, do you use braided line as your main line when you fish on yettis and rocky spots too? I’ve heard mono is better. Which one should I start with?
