The context of this song is incredible. Originally a song about wanting to see her adoptive family turns into essentially a heroic last stand. The fictional world is collapsing and she is essentially holding gates open for people she knows she wronged to escape back to reality. She knows this is probably the end but would rather go out a Shepard trying to save her flock. I am always sucker for type of sacrifice in fiction.
