Francisco Tárrega (1852 - 1909) is recognized as the father of the modern guitar and was hailed as the foremost performer and guitar composer of his age. His music is fundamental and forms an essential repertoire for any classical guitarist, from simple studies to lengthy virtuoso concert pieces.
His collaboration with the renowned guitar builder Antonio de Torres (1817-1892) is renowned to have manifested what we know as our modern day concert guitar.
