Here is a great example of the Motown sound. "Since I Lost My Baby" written by Smokey Robinson and Pete Moore of the Miracles was recorded by The Temptations on the Motown Records' Gordy subsidiary and released as a single on June 1, 1965, reaching number 17 on the Billboard 100 chart and number 4 on the Billboard R&B singles chart. David Ruffin was on lead vocal and Eddie Kendricks, Melvin Franklin, Paul Williams, and Otis Williams on background vocals. Instrumentation was by The Funk Brothers and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. It can be found on CD on The Temptations Greatest Hits album and on the 2 disk Anthology both on the Motown label. There is no voice like David Ruffin. Not one. That man was a gift

Yes, one of the best songs ever recorded, there will never be a group like the temptations. You can hear Eddie's falsetto sweet voice in the background...never will there be another David Ruffin

Born and raised in Detroit (westside) To this very day these songs hold a place in my heart that can never be removed....My folks played these songs at our get togethers ..birthdays...cookouts and holiday for the heart and soul and this is just one of the great hits in my life that i remember...may the sounds of Motown live on forever.

There wasn't a bigger Temptation fan than my mother. Despite the members that changed over the years, she stuck with the group until the end and continued to buy their albums. David Ruffin was her favorite lead singer. And his voice is pure gold on this song. Everytime I hear or play it, I can't help but get a little emotional. Rest in peace Mama love you and miss you so much.🌹

There will never, ever be another singing group like the original Temp's, David, Eddie, Paul, Melvin, last but certanily not least Otis, who was the glue that held the group together. The arteristy, the vocie's, the talent, the beautiful 5 part harmony was beyond compare, this sublime music will live forever. The genius of Barry Gordy and Smokey Robinson to bring the Temp's to Motown was pure Gold. This is music at it's very, very best. This is it folks, there will never be such amazing aray of talent like the ORINIGAL TEMPTATIONS. GOD BLESS THEM ALL, DAVID, EDDIE, PAUL, MELVIN, AND OTIS WHEN HE LEAVES

What a great song. Love it much more than "My Girl." As great as David's lead is, you cannot ignore Eddie's background contribution. What a voice.

Music reflects the times. It’s not that the music was better back then, WE were better back then. Men begged for the affection of a woman. Women were way more secure because of it. “Plenty of work and the bosses are paying” That was the end of a beautiful era. The magic of Motown captures it all. I was born just before the first Motown record so I was weened on some really really good music. If I could in some way transport today’s youth back to that time, they would realize what they’re missing. I feel so sorry for the people of today. It brings tears to my eyes to know what they have missed
