****
- Split tunneling allows you to access different security domains while using the same network connection. Basically, it splits your traffic, so you can, for example, use the local area network and a VPN client at the same time.

- Split tunneling can also allow or disallow your VPN to run on certain apps. It is also useful when you don’t want a VPN to slow down your whole bandwidth. You can use it just for specific applications while leaving out the others.

- Be aware that when you use split tunneling, you become more vulnerable as not all your traffic is equally protected. This is especially important when you work with some sensitive data. You may confuse your traffic and send sensitive data through the unprotected part of the network. We recommend using antimalware and antivirus software to protect the data in the open.

This is essential for me on Windows, but NordVPN doesn't have it.

When will split tunneling be available for Windows systems? This is one area that your competition seems to shine in and NordVPN is way behind on offering.

I was about to buy a subscription until I discovered I couldn't do split tunneling under windows and linux, only android. That's a key feature for me and I'm sorry to say a deal breaker.

Wish the Split-tunnel button in the latest version of NordVPN for Windows worked.

This was a helpful and instructive breakdown of the idea. Thank you

Awesome explanation. Just what I was looking for. I noticed some apps on my phone don't work well with my VPN on. And it's annoying to disconnect all of the time because I have auto-connect enabled.

Good info. I notice that from time to time Nord seem to interfere with my Signal messaging app. It's very inconsistent. But if I turn off the VPN it starts working again. Added signal to my exception list. Its data is encrypted anyway when talking to another Signal user.

So if I turn on Split tunnelling and select my Browser, does this mean that only my browser will use the VPN when it's active?

I want this to be the case because I don't like using VPN often when I play online games as the ping can be problematic.

Express VPN offers split tunnel on the router, which means I can have on local TV and Internet from Europe, and if the Connection gets Jammed I can throw any devices to no internet group and have free network for my devices only, thats the only reason I went with Express VPN, also forgot to mention that Express VPN routers allows you to change the location if you are using their firmware, so no need to add servers as they add them automatically in every firmware update

I can't use Nord because there is no split tunneling for apps in Windows. I was literally on the page to pay when I realized it.

For the 1 year price of ExpressVPN, I am able to use NordVPN for 3 years. So there is no comparison. Speeds are quite good as well. In Windows I use browser extension on Firefox and Chrome for split tunneling. I am not crazy fan of exploring Netflix all around the globe. Can't even finish my own country's contents 😊 Maybe sometimes its okay but for that paying shit loads of money to a VPN service is pointless, at least I believe this way. But still think Nord should implement this on Windows and more so in iOS.

Lol, why will I use split tunneling in browser?! I mean, I see it it can come useful in very niche scenarios.
But it would be far more useful if I can use split tunneling for my desktop apps. Spotify and Steam keeps kicking me out!

I just found out today about split tunneling...
NordVPN please, we need the split tunneling feature in the windows app!
I have an automated solution that relies on vpn-usage, but i have to manually start/stop the vpn all the damn time, taking precious time from other things in my life.
I really do hope this 3+ months "update" is arriving in a few days, because i'm contemplating going to another company that already offers this.

Why there’s no split tunneling on iOS it’s been a real drag changing between servers and I disconnected it for a long time

scam.
You can basically log into chrome or firefox and enable VPN just for that..
However you can not do proper slit tunnelling like enabling qbittorrent through Nord and browsers NOT to so you can still watch netflix etc.
And where is the explanation in this video AT ALL? What a joker. I am asking for a refund.

Why is Nord not clear that split tunneling is not available on iOS? When will it be on ios?
