"HOLLYWOOD AND THE FEMININE FORM DIVINE"- DEBORAH KERR.Born Deborah Jane Trimmer on September 30,1921,in Hillhead,Glasgow,Scotland.Her father was Arthur Ken Trimmer,a naval architect and civil engineer,and her mother was Kathleen Rose Smale.Young Kerr was educated at the Nothumberland House School,Henleaze,in Bristol,and at Rosholme School,Weston-Super-Mare,England.She originally trained as a ballet dancer,appearing on stage at Sadler's Wells in 1938,later making her debut in the corps de ballet in "Prometheus".Kerr later switched careers,becoming an actress in Shakespeare productions at the Oxford Playhouse repertory company,appearing in "Dear Brutus" and "The Two Bouquets".She had a small role in "Major Barbara",later appearing in other British films such as "Love On The Dole","The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp",and "Perfect Strangers".However,it wasn't until her role as sister Clodagh in "Black Narcissus" in 1947 when Hollywood finally took notice,as MGM head Louis B.
