പ്രസ് ഇന്‍ഫര്‍മേഷന്‍ ബ്യൂറോ
പ്രസ് ഇന്‍ഫര്‍മേഷന്‍ ബ്യൂറോ ഗവണ്‍മെന്റിനെയും മാധ്യമങ്ങളെയും തമ്മില്‍ ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുന്ന കണ്ണിയായി പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്നു, കൂടാതെ മാധ്യമങ്ങളില്‍ പ്രതിഫലിക്കുന്ന ജനങ്ങളുടെ പ്രതികരണങ്ങള്‍ ഗവണ്‍മെന്റിന് കൈമാറുന്നതും പ്രസ് ഇന്‍ഫര്‍മേഷന്‍ ബ്യൂറോയാണ്.
പി ഐ ബി ആശയവിനിമയത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ രീതികളിലൂടെ വിവരങ്ങള്‍ പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. പ്രസ് റിലീസുകള്‍, പ്രസ് നോട്ടുകള്‍, ഫീച്ചര്‍ ലേഖനങ്ങള്‍, ഫോട്ടോഗ്രാഫുകള്‍, ഡാറ്റാബേസ് എന്നിവ പി ഐ ബിയുടെ വെബ്സൈറ്റില്‍ ലഭ്യമാണ്. വാര്‍ത്താ വിവരങ്ങള്‍ ഇംഗ്ലീഷിലും ഹിന്ദിയിലും ഉറുദുവിലും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുകയും മറ്റ് ഇന്ത്യന്‍ ഭാഷകളിലേക്ക് വിവര്‍ത്തനം ചെയ്യുകയും രാജ്യത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിലുള്ള 8,400 ഓളം പത്രങ്ങളിലും മാധ്യമ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിലും ലഭ്യമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
കൂടാതെ, ഗവണ്‍മെന്റിന്റെ സുപ്രധാന നയ സംരംഭങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് മാധ്യമപ്രവര്‍ത്തകരെ ബോധവത്കരിക്കുന്നതിനായി പി ഐ ബി വാര്‍ത്താ സമ്മേളനങ്ങള്‍, പ്രസ് ബ്രീഫിംഗ്, മന്ത്രി/സെക്രട്ടറിമാരുടെയും മറ്റ് മുതിര്‍ന്ന ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥരുടെയും അഭിമുഖങ്ങള്‍ എന്നിവ സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുന്നു. രാജ്യത്ത് നടക്കുന്ന വികസന പ്രവര്‍ത്തനങ്ങളുടെ നേരിട്ടുള്ള വിവരങ്ങള്‍ മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് പ്രാപ്തമാക്കുന്നതിന് വിജയകരമായ പദ്ധതി സ്ഥലങ്ങളിലേക്കും സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിലേക്കും പ്രസ് ടൂറുകളും നടത്തുന്നു.
പിഐബിയുടെ ആസ്ഥാനം ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹിയിലാണ്. പ്രിന്‍സിപ്പല്‍ ഡയറക്ടര്‍ ജനറല്‍ (മീഡിയ & കമ്മ്യൂണിക്കേഷന്‍) ആണ് ഇതിന് നേതൃത്വം നല്‍കുന്നത്, ആസ്ഥാനത്ത് ഒരു ഡയറക്ടര്‍ ജനറലും നിരവധി അഡീഷണല്‍ ഡയറക്ടര്‍ ജനറലുകളും ഉള്‍പ്പെടുന്നു. . കൂടാതെ, ഡയറക്ടര്‍മാര്‍ മുതല്‍ അസിസ്റ്റന്റ് ഡയറക്ടര്‍മാര്‍ വരെയുള്ള വിവിധ റാങ്കുകളില്‍ ഡിപ്പാര്ട്ട്മെന്റല് പബ്ലിസിറ്റി ഓഫീസര്‍മാരും വിവിധ മന്ത്രാലയങ്ങളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന മീഡിയ & കമ്മ്യൂണിക്കേഷന്‍ ഓഫീസര്‍മാരുമുണ്ട്.
പ്രസ് റിലീസുകള്‍, പ്രസ് നോട്ടുകള്‍, ബാക്ക്ഗ്രൗണ്ടറുകള്‍ തുടങ്ങിയവയിലൂടെ മാധ്യമങ്ങളില്‍ വിവരങ്ങള്‍ പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനായി ഡിപ്പാര്ട്ട്മെന്റല് പബ്ലിസിറ്റി ഓഫീസര്‍മാരെ (ഡിപിഒ) വിവിധ മന്ത്രാലയങ്ങളിലേക്കും വകുപ്പുകളിലേക്കും നിയോഗിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. കൂടാതെ പത്രസമ്മേളനങ്ങള്‍, പ്രസ് ടൂറുകള്‍, മീഡിയ ബ്രീഫിംഗുകള്‍ തുടങ്ങിയവയിലൂടെയും വിവരങ്ങള്‍ ലഭ്യമാക്കുന്നു. മാധ്യമങ്ങളുടെ വിവര ആവശ്യങ്ങളും മന്ത്രാലയങ്ങളുടെ പബ്ലിസിറ്റി ആവശ്യകതകളും സംബന്ധിച്ച എല്ലാ കാര്യങ്ങളിലും ഡിപിഒകള്‍ അതത് മന്ത്രാലയങ്ങളെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നു.
പ്രാദേശിക തലത്തില്‍ അഞ്ച് മേഖലകള്‍ ഉണ്ട്. ഡയറക്ടര്‍ ജനറല്‍മാരുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ വടക്ക്, പടിഞ്ഞാറ്, കിഴക്ക്, വടക്ക് കിഴക്ക്, തെക്ക്. പ്രാദേശിക യൂണിറ്റുകള്‍ എല്ലാ റിലീസുകളും പരസ്യ സാമഗ്രികളും അതത് പ്രാദേശിക ഭാഷകളിലൂടെ പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കും.
പ്രിന്റ്, ഇലക്ട്രോണിക്, സമൂഹ മാധ്യമങ്ങള്‍ എന്നിവയിലെ ഗവണ്‍മെന്റിനെ സംബന്ധിച്ച പരമാര്‍ശങ്ങള്‍, വാര്‍ത്തകള്‍ എന്നിവയെക്കുറിച്ച് പ്രാദേശിക യൂണിറ്റുകള്‍ ഗവണ്‍മെന്റിന് പതിവായി വിവരങ്ങള്‍ നല്‍കുന്നു.
പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ വെബ്സൈറ്റ് പ്രാദേശിക യൂണിറ്റുകള്‍ തത്സമയം അപ്ഡേറ്റ് ചെയ്യുന്നു.
പത്രങ്ങളുടെയും ആനുകാലികങ്ങളുടെയും ആര്‍ എന്‍ ഐ/ഡി എ വി പി വിശദാംശങ്ങളുടെ സ്ഥിരീകരണത്തിന് പുറമെ, പത്രപ്രവര്‍ത്തക ക്ഷേമ പദ്ധതിയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട കാര്യങ്ങളും പി ഐ ബി പ്രാദേശിക യൂണിറ്റുകള്‍ കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്യുന്നു.

Press Information Bureau functions as an interface between the Government and the media and also serves to provide feedback to the Government on people’s reaction as reflected in the media.
PIB disseminates information through different modes of communication viz. press releases, press notes, feature articles, backgrounders, photographs, database available on Bureau’s website. Information disseminated is released in English, Hindi and Urdu and subsequently translated in other Indian languages to reach out to about 8,400 newspapers and media organizations in different parts of country.
In addition, PIB organizes Press Conferences, Press Briefing, Interviews of the Minister’s /Secretary’s and other senior officers for sensitizing media persons on important policy initiatives of the Government. The Bureau also conducts Press Tours to successful project sites to enable media to have first-hand account of developmental activities going on in the country.
PIB has its Headquarters in New Delhi. It is headed by the Principal Director General (Media & Communication) who is assisted by a Director General and several Additional Director Generals at Headquarters. Besides, the Bureau has Departmental Publicity Officers varying in ranks from Directors to Assistant Directors and Media & Communication Officers who are attached with different Ministries.
Departmental Publicity Officers (DPOs) have been attached to various Ministries and Departments for disseminating information to the media through press releases, press notes, backgrounders etc. and also by arranging press conferences, press tours, media briefings etc . DPOs also advise their respective Ministries on all matters pertaining to information needs of media and Ministries’ publicity requirements.
Matters pertaining to Journalist Welfare Scheme are also being dealt with by PIB Regional Units apart from verification of RNI /DAVP details of newspapers & periodicals.

പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ വെബ്സൈറ്റ് പ്രാദേശിക യൂണിറ്റുകള്‍ തത്സമയം അപ്ഡേറ്റ് ചെയ്യുന്നു.
