// WHO AM I
Hi! I’m Kalyn, an American expat in the UK, and I’m super glad you’re here (yes, I’ve lived in the UK for almost 10 years and the word “super” is still very much part of my vocabulary!) Whether you’re thinking about moving to the UK or just visiting, I have plenty of information and other resources for you below, so make sure to find your section and let me help you make the most of your trip or your move to the always-sunny, beautiful, and historic UK (okay, two of those things are true, but if you squint really hard at the lights when the London Underground is coming into station, you can kind of pretend it’s the sun?)

What did you get up to on Jubilee weekend?

Nothing like a 4 day bank holiday, good old Queenie.
I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.

I saw the queen at the silver jubilee at St.Katherines dock, a lovely friend of ours, got his Thames Barge near to the point where we would watch the Queen, walk over a small foot bridge! that was lovely to see! As me and my brother in law went up in the rigging and looked down, as the Queen walked buy! I hope you both had a great time! That was 1977

Well I enjoyed the jubilee, since it was organised to coincide with my birthday! I paid a royal visit to the family in Wiltshire plus a lovely garden party - all very regal..

Watched Trooping the Colour on TV, it was fantastic, as always. Can't beat us on that score. Saw the flypast, loved the Battle of Britain Memorial flight and the rest. On TV.

That's a very British thing to sit and wait for hours when something is going to happen! (You're a proper citizen now)
There always seems to be a random bloke in the crowd keeping everyone going!
So glad you enjoyed it, we don't show our patriotism often, we save it up for special occasions!
I know I'm bias but I think we do this kind of thing better than anyone

You can say you witnessed something that even your children won't see.

Such an amazing long weekend. There’ll never be anything like it ever again. Loved every minute including our Street Party.

It warmed the heart to see that thousands of Americans came over just for the jubilee to celebrate the jubilee with us Brits (I know that Girl Gone London is British too) and all our American cousins across the pond were welcome to join in the celebrations because the more the merrier. I met loads of Americans on the mall and in pubs and out and about and even made some new life long friends who stuck with us so we could explain what’s going on to them. I’m going to visit some in Texas this year when I go see my wife’s family this year in Reno. I’d like to thank all Americans that joined in with celebrations both here in the U.K. and at home in the US your all very welcome.

Kalyn!!! plane spotting! Lucas will be proud of you. 😊. The crowd at Windsor was like that on the Mall, it looks like! Cool that you got a front row spot!! Still, an experience you will remember.

I think you may have missed out a bit on the flypast. Your video shows, i think, the new F35s, Typhoons and Gnats(the Red Arrows). but there was also Merlins, Wildcats and Apaches( helicopters) and of course the RAF Memorial Flight of a WW2 Lancaster, 2 Spitfires and 2 Hurricanes. There were others, about 100 in all. The Queen herself was at Buckingham Palace leaving for Windsor late afternoon, early evening. According to Prince Charles she was watching the concert in the Mall from Windsor.

I had the helicopter part of the flypast go by my living room window on it's way to London, that was quite a sight!

I watched the coronation as a child on a 9 inch black and white TV. Yes, I'm that old. My main memory was feeling so sad that Her Majesty had that huge heavy crown to hold up. Gawd knows what it weighs but she ended up carrying half the crown jewels. Nobody in their right mind would take on the life she has had. Think of what she can't do, not what she does. When she goes who knows what will happen.

During the interregnum when Oliver Cromwell was "Lord Protector" parliament debated whether to demolish Windsor Castle. The vote not to was won by a single vote.

did you know there are Two Windsor stations? Windsor Central which you were in with the shops and view of the Castle and Windsor Riverside which is on the Southern Region with direct services to London and other points

I'm interested to know what you felt about the atmosphere with the people. I was married to an American for 15 years and was quite surprised at how many stars & stripes were hanging outside house and buildings in the USA. We, as a nation don't openly display our allegiance, or British pride every day, so I would be interested to know what you thought of the occasion, despite the disappointment of not seeing the queen. Of course you have to take into consideration that she is a quite a frail old lady now & it must have been a long & exhausting day for her. ❤✌🇬🇧
