Dr Yan Guohua - The Internationalisation of Chinese Higher Education

Over the past decade, China’s education system has undergone substantial reform as it adjusts to changing social and economic trends. The internationalisation of education has been a primary focus of these reforms, particularly as the knowledge-economy plays a more significant role in the globalised world. In his address, Dr. Yan explored the challenges and opportunities that the internationalisation of Chinese higher education presents for Sino-EU and Sino-Irish relations.



About the Speaker:

In 2013, Dr. Yan Guohua was appointed Vice President of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU). Between 2008 and 2012, he held the position of Education Counselor at the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in Houston. Previously, he served as the Director of the Multilateral Cooperation Division and the Deputy Director of the Asian and African Division in the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange at the Ministry of Education. He has held a number of positions in the area of university sports including Deputy Secretary General of the Asian University Sports Federation and the Student Sport Association, and Vice Chairman of the Chinese University Sports Federation and the China School Sports Federation.
