The fact that this is called the ballad of Jane doe when it's really a lament, and Noel's lament is actually a ballad, is super cool. The titles reflect what the songs *want* to be, not what they are. Jane doesn't have a ballad because she has no story. Noel doesn't have a lament, his is telling the story of Monique.

Something I noticed is that despite the fact that they're all in a choir, Jane's the only one with a choir-esque song, because that's the only thing she knows about herself

'Time eats all his children in the end' is a fucking RAW line and I feel it needs more appreciation

Fun fact: her high notes are implied to be her screams as the ride broke down.

I like to think that the line “I hear the anguish of the streets” can also apply to the fact that a beheaded head is still concious for a few seconds

Just your reminder that Jane did get beheaded, yes, but people are like chickens. The line "I hear the anguish of the streets" means she heard her friends die.

I wish all the altos, tenors, baritone who want to sing this song a very nice evening

I love how you could hear all the rage and despair when she sings “and I’m asking why lord if this is how I die lord why be left with no family and no friends” her voice is so powerful

I love this song- while everyone else sings about jobs love money, Jane sings about being. She doesn’t want to be something. She just wants to BE

Okay, can we talk about how her voice starts off floaty and soft and then her voice gets all gritty and powerful when it says 'why lord' and goes immediately back to Floaty and soft? That alone is impressive!

I just can’t imagine singing this WHILE FLYING. Props to anyone playing Jane, that’s amazing. I get chills at all the “ahhs” and the descending runs… I think I have a new obsession.

I love how everyone had their own musical style, reflecting them and their personality
Meanwhile, Jane doe has carnival music because the only thing they know about her is that she died in a roller coaster accident

this song is absolutely beautiful but the most horrible part is that jane doe should NOT be a jane doe. she was apart of a choir- her family shouldve noticed she joined a choir and never returned when the choir got into an accident. but they didnt. and she is forever a nobody.

As someone obsessed with Romamticism art, the phrase "time eats all his children in the end." It reminds me of the painting "Saturn devouring his son"(Saturno devorando a su hijo) by Francisco de Goya.
I think I only relate them because in the painting Saturn, which is literally Chronos, god of time, in Roman culture, is precisely devouring the head of his son

Fun fact: I can hit her high notes when I see a spider

I like to think that when she sings super high plus being upside down and rotating that it represents her falling through the air and screaming

Am I an Alto? Yes. Am I gonna try and learn to sing this? Also yes

This song by itself is beautiful but the visuals in the show during this number are just so damn cool

When she points at the audience and sings “Time eats all his children in the end” I get chills every time

I can’t believe that Emily flew through the air while still hitting those notes and not throwing up. She's such an icon.
