Given Lightyear's fake movie premise, you would think the writers would have more fun with the script. I half expected them to poke fun at the reality of toy marketing, behind the scene drama and McDonald's tie-ins. But it was inexplicably super serious, and the Zurg twist was the most insane thing Pixar has ever done

I unironically loved Scrooge idc. It’s such an insane adaptation because it looks like every single character designer and concept artist was really into the onceler fandom circa 2012

The fourth Hotel Transylvania had a lot of potential. It could’ve tackled that fact that Dracula and Mavis would outlive their human soulmates and it could’ve been a good way to end the franchise. Instead it turned out basic and generic

Personally, I think that shows/movies featuring anthropomorphic animals no longer feel like content reserved for kids, as Aggretsuko, Beastars, and others have been changing that stigma.

These annual animation film rankings always keep me looking forward to your content. No one else does this amount of dedication for the medium. Also I really love how it’s not just the big budget mainstream Hollywood movies. It also includes indie, international, and anime films as well. These mean so much to me and I’m so thankful you still pull this off every year. Here is to another year of great animated cinema!

BTW, you mention about how Luck's expressions are restricted and kinda unnatural, and you wanna know what the budget of this film was? $140 MILLION. Yep, it's more expensive than Puss In Boots: The Last Wish and Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio COMBINED.

-the financial failures of Lightyear and Strange World
-Live Action Pinocchio
-The quality of the MCU taking a f*cking nose dive
-the Ow House drama
-their CEO getting fired
-Dreamworks kicking their asses in theaters

i had unrestricted internet access as a kid and stumbled across the 2013 ranking video when I was about 8/9? Crazy how time flies, I’m 18 now! I practically grew up watching your channel and these annual ranking videos are like a holiday. 🎉

genuinely blows my mind that when i think i'm aware of all the animated films that come out every year, cellspex says "hold my 'even mice belong in heaven.'" watching these ranking videos over the years have really expanded my knowledge on animated films from outside the US and even japan. i owe just about all of that to her, so thanks :)

Honestly, “the lion king 1 1/2 but with beauty and the beast” sounds really fun. Lefou makes no sense in that role though

Honestly the thing with the Russian Pinnochio is its so bad its good. They made a terrible movie that was so funny that it made it good. "A Talking wooden boy!" *shoots him*

Imagine how much better Transformania could've been if it were about Ericka and Mavis's relationship as stepmom and stepdaughter, as well as Ericka talking about her life as a monster-hater, and how wrong she now feels. Think about how much more interesting this movie could be if it had nothing to do with Drac.

Im not gonna lie, I hated Lightyear. Every joke felt lame, the supporting cast just felt like overdone archetypes, and the premise of it being the movie Andy saw doesn't work at all, because no kid would want a Buzz toy after that. They'd want a Socks figure.

The part about how much the internet freaked out over the human Invisible Man not being hot is something I’ve definitely not seen enough people talking about. I’m not gonna pretend his canon design is the greatest thing ever, but people got like… alarmingly upset and it seemed like I was the only one who felt uncomfortable with how mad they were. Whenever people online complain about how “ugly” a character is it’s like they forget/don’t care that there are real people who may look like them (* cough Mutant Mayhem April O’Neil cough *), and in a movie as wacky as Hotel Transylvania it really shouldn’t matter that a character isn’t conventionally attractive enough for the audience
