One unique feature that will set apart the newly revamped Gandhinagar station in Gujarat is that it will be the first in India to have a 5-star hotel above the railway tracks. This is a known international practice, but in India, Gandhinagar will be the first railway station to have a 5-star facility above the tracks. Pillars/Columns has been constructed on the tracks to form the ceiling which will allow for the hotel to be constructed on top.
The 5-star hotel, which will be run by the Leela Group, is expected to be completed by December 2020. “It’s a unique model, the design has been made in a way that no vibrations or noise from the trains on the tracks below will be felt by the occupants of the hotel.
According to Indian Railways, at 65 metres, the hotel will be the tallest building in Gandhinagar. It will consist of 3 towers of 6, 8 and 10 storey. There will be a swimming pool on the deck.

The Indian Railway Station Redevelopment Corporation Limited (IRSDC) is currently working towards the redevelopment of many railway stations across the country, with an aim to transform them into swanky airport-like hubs. Habibganj and Gandhinagar railway stations, which are going to be the country’s first two world-class stations. Apart from these two stations, the rest of the redeveloped stations including Chandigarh, Anand Vihar, Bijwasan, Sabarmati, Gwalior, Nagpur, Amritsar railway stations.

5 star hotel at railway station is bad idea. It will be white 🐘. Instead it should be 3 or 4 Star. Raipur station in Chattisgarh has very good hotel named le roy in railway station. It is very popular with transiting upper middle class travellers. These income group will not go in 5 star hotel and 5 star hotel class will not travel in rail.
