Doug the type of guy to sit and monologue about good places to drive in front of a Carrera GT while looking like he spent the night in a homeless encampment

Doug is the type of guy to put on a band aid in random videos to confuse the heck out of people who assume his videos are uploaded quickly and sequentially.

I’ll add to the chorus of Germany being the premier driving destination. The Autobahn and Nurburgring get all of the attention (and rightfully so) but the backroads around Bavaria and Swabia are right up there as well. Absolutely beautiful, twisty roads running through forests, farmland, and small towns that are impeccably maintained.

Italian here living in New Zealand. I miss drivers from back home so much. Driving in countries where driving school isn’t mandatory is my top indicator whether a place is enjoyable to drive in or not.

As an italian I've also noticed that drivers on the autostrada are well behaved, never had any problem. I think the reasons are:
1) People who don't like to drive have many alternatives for traveling between cities without a car.
2) Driving the car is considered a serious matter here, especially on the autostrada.
3) You have to pay a toll, so many people use free alternatives like "strade statali" where you'll find wrost drivers and more traffic jams.
4) Considering point 1 and 3, the autostrada is used generally by experienced drivers who regularly drive for long distances.

The biggest factor for me is traffic. You can't have fun on the twisty winding road if you're stuck behind somebody going 15mph the whole way and there's no passing for 10 miles.

As an American living in Europe, I couldn’t agree with you more and I’ve done many videos on this. It comes down to drivers skill and the entry bar for a drivers license is much higher and more expensive.

Doug being authentic self again. Love it ! A car is NOT an appliance in Europe (aka kitchen blender), people respect the act of driving.

Western NC is WAAAAYYY more than just the Dragon and as devestated as the region remains following Helene, most of the best roads have been cleared and survived intact.
Please, anyone who hasn't experienced this region, come visit, we're "open for business" and although we are recovering, the loss of tourism has been crippling to our economy...

Driving is taken a lot more seriously in Europe because in most of those countries it's very easy to loose your license even for minor infractions.

As a Swiss living in the mountains, I can assure your that there are loads of mountain roads where you can drive fast. But obviously not on the famous passes, there you gonna get a ticket!

Vermont hands down ime (for US). Roads are smooth, twisty, scenic and absence of other drivers makes it particularly special.

The Autobahn around Kassel is up and down, left and right. A real treat at 200 km/h. Also Autobahn 45 is a lot of fun, when it isn’t a construction site.

Italy is so much enjoyable to drive through. Every 30 miles is a discovery.

A little hint for the next time you are in Germany: there is an amazing curvy road without speed limit in Bavaria. It is called B15n. It is not designated as part of the autobahn but as „state road“. But they built the road in a way so they can later designate it as part of the autobahn. Due to German road laws the no
Speed limit thing is not exclusive to the autobahn but also done on roads wich are built to autobahn standards (which this is). They still built it curvy like a state road. The tight corners are good for up to about 140-150mph.
It is 35km long and connects Regensburg to Landshut.
It is really fun.

I live in Germany and last month I made a road trip through Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Lichtenstein and Austria. Lots of alpine roads and lots of autobahn, and it was an amazing experience. Also I'm a flight attendant and travelling around the world makes me appreciate the quality of European roads. The US is another great place to drive, but I'd never in a million years drive in the Caribbean, or pretty much anywhere in south east Asia. This year I'll try a JDM beauty in Japan and I honestly can't wait for it to happen
