The election was part of a series of political changes made by Saied after he shut down the previous parliament last year and then rewrote the constitution in moves his critics have called a coup.

'More than 9 out of 10 stayed away from the polls, that is a record in low turnout', France 24 Douglas Herbert says.

Trivia note: The U.S. series The Amazing Race has been on for 34 Seasons, and yet they have traveled to Tunisia only once in its very 1st Season back in 2001.

Quite normal for this region.
There is no history of democracy in Caliphate countries.
Turkey ?
True, but that was the work of Ataturk - a secular admirer of the West.
Ataturk also abolished religious schools, religious courts, the religious council etc
He admired western democracy and education.
He singlehandedly modernised Turkey
And Turkish children are taught that Ataturk was a holy Muslim
Ataturk "wished all religions at the bottom of the sea"
