2020 Jeep Gladiator | Family Review

Thanks to my day job at Kelley Blue Book, I drive and review lots of cars. Today I’m driving a 2020 Jeep Gladiator. This particular Gladiator pickup is the Overland trim featuring a 3.6-liter V6, four-wheel drive (of course), and a range of options that bump its MSRP from $40,395 to a lofty $54,790 including destination charges. No, the Gladiator ain’t cheap.

Then again, the Jeep Gladiator should hold its value well over time, just like the resale-value-leading Jeep Wrangler. Also, the 2020 Gladiator is arguably the most fun midsize pickup truck you can buy. Not only is it highly capable off-road but the top comes off for open-air frivolity. So, even though its expensive (doubly so with dealer mark-ups) the Gladiator is an alluring entry into the midsize pickup segment.

To see how Jeep’s new pickup fares as a family truck I dragged my wife and daughter to the nearest off-road park for some dirty, dusty, muddy good times. Along the way we discussed important stuff like interior comfort, child seat installations, safety features, and styling.

And just so the premise is ultra-clear, this is not a comprehensive review but rather a casual look at the 2020 Jeep Gladiator, while I live my normal life. Simple. Fun! #MicahDrives

I love these family car reviews. Makes it easier for me to picture my daughter and wife in the vehicle. Thank you, Micah!

If I could find a woman that would genuinely smile and look at me the way Micah’s wife does with him, I’d die a happy dude. Enjoyed the video

I like your review style, and this family review was the tipping point to sub and like. Please family review the other "midsize" trucks. I'm looking at the Canyon and Ranger currently.

Love the wholesome family review format. Genuinely refreshing. You should sell the concept to KBB or/and make it a regular thing.

How on earth did you manage to get so lucky finding such a loving caring devoted smart. and beautiful wife gave birth to a small version of herself to bring up? Damn Micah. Great video

Great review Micah! Looking into a gladiator for me and my small family. This was perfect to see if it’s practical or not. Keep up the great work!

Only reviewer to do off roading with a 3 year old at the back seat. That’s Micah confidence or Jeep confidence?

I'm really fond of Micah's channel in relation to other car reviewers.
Saabkyle is like the librarian of car reviewers.
DeMuro is the comedian.
Micah is the one kids cartoon that is so fun to watch, it's the only one that doesn't make dad go on a tangent about how all cartoons suck nowadays.

As a proud happy owner of a new 2024 Gladiator, plus owning other Jeeps and trucks of all kinds, I find the Gladiator is the perfect size for me. As far as the driving feel? I say it feels like a 59 Caddy with all new suspension and shocks, with good radial tires, in other words as good as can be. That’s got soft movements and sway. But with the ability to blast of most surfaces and roads.

Sounds like a VERY specific purchase and I will more than likely never purchase one, but it looks sweet though.

Oh my God. What a great review! Would've loved an overall opinion on the whole package in one spot, but it was great to have a kid in the car and the wife giving her opinions. Really puts things in perspective and removed a lot of the hype factor to think about a larger purchase like this more seriously.

Since you're coming at it from the practical angle, I would love to have your opinion on maintainability and lifetime cost compared to similar vehicles in these reviews. Thanks!

Great review, refreshing honestly. I could not figure out how to recline the seat the first time I rented a new Wrangler so you are not alone.

Your daughter is the real star of the video.

4:59 Good point. In my experience, I’ve run into 2 schools of thought in setting up your mirrors correctly. I believe a car and driver or road and track article addressed this. I argue that you should set up your mirrors wider to minimize the blind spot as much as possible, as well as looking over your shoulder

I rented a Wrangler and put 1, 000 miles on it and was really impressed with the ride to be honest. My two girls and I had a blast!

Not that it matters to them but Jeep priced themselves out of a customer. I LOVE this truck but at $55k for a mid-tier Gladiator Id sacrifice some capability for a better equipped and much more practical/comfortable Ram Rebel
