I tried to stick to a more direct translation in most spots. There are a couple times I used brackets when I just either couldn't decide, or really a direct translation couldn't really make total sense on its own, so words inside "[ ]" indicate those aren't in the Japanese text directly.

"Asphyxia" lyrics in Japanese, English, and Romaji. It is from the anime Tokyo Ghoul, it is its third opening song of the whole series, and OP1 of Tokyo Ghoul:re.

After the years you gotta realize how beautiful tokyo ghoul is, and how we can relate on a personal level and wider level (personally changing scares me and i have matured since then)
And how on a wider level everyone is still trying to live in a world is judging our every move and crushing us with decisions we can't make without serious consequences. But we still keep going and sooner or later we will find ourselves

Unravel is great at explaining how my depression but I can't help but get emotional when I read the lyrics. I love Kaneki since I was in college like he was when I started the manga and I also was abused by my parents.

Even when I get low Asphyxia is the song that best describes how it feels to keep trying. The line about moving on no matter how much your heart has been broken and people expect you to come to a disappointing end hits home. So does the line about hoping the pain you were given could be a type of love. Its so hard to like yourself when all you've been taught is to recognize your faults and failure.

When it first ended I hated Re; I thought it was unrealistic for someone who went through all that to be happy and find a wife and make a family. I think I was sad because I stopped relating to Kaneki because he moved past his pain and found happiness. It's been years and I keep going between Unravel and Asphyxia when I feel down about life.

I honestly doubt my life will end in such a happy way but seeing Kaneki happy at the end feels good still. He got to see how love should feel. I wish the anime was redone to match the manga.
