I go to St Nicholas and am in my last year now. It is an amazing school with so much possibility.

Interesting presentation. Am I correct in thinking that St Nicholas school would originally have been a Church of England school? I understand that local authorities only became responsible for compulsory education much later in the Victorian era.

I went to St Nicks, left in 1966. Mr Stones was the head. Mr Gulliver one of the teachers, we used to call him Gullygogs. My mum worked in the kitchens at Edgebury School but would occasionally come over to serve the food. Happy days

Was a pupil until the "Eleven Plus" exam in 1951. Much later my wedding reception was in the hall of the Crown. I think the Wallers were the publicans. My grandfather owned the butchers shop at 65 High Street (on the corner of Willow Grove and High Street).
