The interim report for the "RES Simplify" study provides an overview of the barriers related to permit-granting in EU countries, Norway, and Iceland. The European Council has called for fast-tracking of permitting procedures and adopted a temporary emergency regulation on 22 December 2022.

Marta Andres is legal and policy officer in the Renewable energy unit of the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission. In this role, she has worked on several legislative initiatives, in particular the revision of the Renewable Energy Directive.
