It's just crazy to me that whales and giant squids were the "sea monsters" of ancient mythologies throughout history. We knew so little about what these creatures actually are and now we understand so much.

According to that case, the Giant Squids colossal look to the sperm whale, the sperm whale is larger, yet for the squid, is more agile and prospective.A giant squid is a big piece of the menu for the giant sperm whale to consume.The sperm whale would win such a battle, yet for the squid to accept its defeat.

This guy seems to contradict himself. "It's hard to say who would win such a fight, " he says. But he then says that sperm whales, "hunt them [squid] ruthlessly and easily." He then points out how many squid beaks have been found in the stomachs of sperm whale. How did they get there? Duh. Later, he says, "A fight like this has never been seen, or filmed." Well, I distinctly remember reading about one. I believe it was in the book "Mind in the Waters."

the romanticized idea of an epic undersea battle between two giants makes people resistant to accepting how one sided the dynamic really is. Can the squid give a whale some scratches and escape, sure. But it’s nearly impossible for even the largest theorized squids to kill a 60ton whale. Most visual depictions of these battles drastically overstate the size of the squids

The only real advantage a giant squid has is that it doesn't have to come up to the surface to breath air, unlike its toothed whale opponent.

Well, let's say that in 90% of cases the sperm whale wins : giant and colossal squid are they're prey BUT ... we CAN'T be sure about the maximum size that can be reached by a giant squid ... some sailors (even serious officers who fought in 2nd war world) talked about very, very larger squid that could even reach a length of 100 fts (30 m) ... OF course, if it happens, it' must probably be considered as something very rare and exceptional BUT in those cases it could maybe happen that the giant squid wins ... Or maybe sperm whales, especially female specimens that are smaller, don't even try to start a fight with the squid when it is so large ...

My girlfriend and I have just been cry laughing at this video for the past 10 mins🤣
1:10 is my favourite part "This unique animal is the LARGEST of the toothed whales and it's day to day life will simply captivate you. The sperm whale is the LARGEST of the toothed whales!" Mfer said the same thing two sentences in a row 🤣

I'm convinced all of these videos are written up in like 10 minutes but they notice it's only 5 mins long and they need it to be 10 mins for revenue so they just start stretching it out like a kid trying to get their essay to 2000 words 😂

Our Grandfather was in the Norwegian whaling fleet. He was telling me about this in the early sixties. He was on the boat with the deck gun that fired the harpoons. He said that they would hit a calf as the rest would stay to protect it. Then, they'd get the others.
