Her life only seemed to get better when she met her husband Sheldon. They were close, and he seemed healthy in body and mind. The body doesn’t care about how healthy we seem. He was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor while being tested for painful ringing in his ear. After hours of surgery, doctors were able to remove every bit of the tumor. The problem is that there were serious complications. He had major paralysis to the muscles in his face.

Even the slightest improvements were massive to Shannon. She ended up sobbing in a Pizza Hut once his face began to move slightly again. Shannon has also had painful health issues of her own. She has a condition that causes chronic eye pain. Years went by without a diagnosis, and now she can only manage her symptoms. Her faith has helped her through these dark times. She looks to God.

The Bream family has also found a powerful support system. First of all, they look to each other. Second, they have family, with Shannon leaving heavily on her mothers. Finally, they’ve gotten support from the community at large. Church groups and others who’ve had brain tumors like Sheldon’s have reached out to her. Going through a similar issue has become a way for her to reach out and provide encouragement to them.

January 2024 diagnosed with sarcoma cancer. Had 6 weeks of radiation followed by 2 surgeries and doing fine now. At the cancer treatment center I met many people much worse than me and on the edge of death! I felt very blessed compared to there situation! Prayers and my belief in myself to fight and never give up was very helpful. I had many people praying for me and that I'm very grateful for!
