This one still stings the most. Torres was our golden boy. Even when he was at Chelsea id still root for him. Will never forget the Long hair, Headband, Long sleeves, and the T90s. Legend

When Torres left, it broke my heart as a fan. Suarez, Sterling, coutinho, Alonso even Gerrard didn’t hurt that bad. Torres was our favourite

In a way, this man did live up to his talent. He scored over 300 goals in his career playing in leagues like La Liga, Premier League and with Spain.

He came back for a charity match and played up front with Suarez. He got a huge cheer and all the old songs came out. Still loved by the fans.

“I know that Stevie was devastated when I left. I was as well. I remember the flight from Liverpool to London. I did not know what to feel. I was not happy, I was not angry; I was empty. I was on a helicopter and it was getting dark, flying over Liverpool below. I began to feel sad. I was so happy there, so, so happy…”
-Fernando Torres (quote taken from Ring of fire)

I am a chelsea fan, yet torres still love liverpool. I didn't remembered what year when he one-by-one with liverpool gk at dying minute, he could score it I was 100% sure he could. But, he passed to willian, and willian scored for us. At that moment, I knew he still love liverpool.

He was next to Ronaldo and Messi guys at a moment. Imagine being in a league of forwards like Henry, Drogba, Rooney and defenders still fear you the most. I think this guy defined agility at it's best.

The only time I ever cried due to a football matter was the day i guests he was signing for Chelsea! I was 14 and it broke my heart into tiny tiny pieces! He was the reason I started to watch LFC and they are my favourite club to this point!

He still remains my favourite footballer. His calmness on the pitch is unparalleled.

Broke my heart when he left, but understand now why, Liverpool were in shambles back then, we were lucky to not be broke, we were what, a few days away from that and losing everything? He's still a Liverpool legend in my eyes, he gave us dreams back then

His Chelsea career wasn't as bad as made out, injury had already dulled some of his sharpness but he still contributed a lot especially in Europe, one season he scored 22 goals in all competitions which is a good return. The problem is the price tag and the evidence from what we'd seen at Liverpool a year before he left set the bar so high.

Yes, that news broke my heart as a Liverpool-fan. But at the same time, I understand why He did it. For all his goals, especially His goals against United, He will still be one of my favorite LFC-players

When he moved out to Chelsea, I was so devastated and angry. But now when I'm older, I understood very well on why he decided so. Liverpool at that time weren't stable enough. If I knew this back in the day, I probably wanted him to leave anyway for his own career.

Loved Torres. Still do. He loved Liverpool but the club was a mess when he went. The owners were a joke, executives brought in that weren’t football people. The club was rudderless and getting rid of key players plus Benitez was the final straw for Torres. He was approaching 27 and hadn’t won anything at club level. He made a decision based on ambition and no one can’t begrudge him that. He’ll always be a Liverpool legend.

Literally all he wanted was to feel important, needed and loved - not just by the fans, who many still love him as their favourite today - but the Liverpool leadership at the time saw him as just another number 9, really a toxic place to be coming from your hometown club where you were loved even on your bad days. Can't blame him, a footballers career is short lived, you need to make the most of it while you can and win what you can - someone like Harry Kane may regret that after his career ends, but respect to him for digging it out with spurs as long as he has before the city bid.

His explanation for his decision to leave is extremely reasonable and I appreciate hearing his perspective. Had he left for Barca or Madrid, I don't think the sting would have been nearly so bad and I think reconciliation would have come in time as the smoke cleared from that disastrous era for the club. But specifically pushing to go to Chelsea was what burned the bridge for him. Many supporters will simply never get over that. People get divorced. But not every divorcee goes on to shack up with his ex's best friend. It would be like today, if Mo Salah broke off contract talks and demanded to go to Man City.

I fell in love with liverpool due to this man. And when he left it was a sad day for me. I even tried watching him in chelsea but he was just not the same player I fell in love with as when he was in liverpool. But ill always appreciate him as a player no matter what. He was my introduction to the football world and nobody can take tht away from me. YNWA

He is the player that made me watch football. He is the player that made me support Liverpool. And he was the best player then when I started to watch football. Only because of him I am a Liverpool fan and will always be. He is my GOAT. It is sad to see this but we cannot blame the circumstances then.

This may sound harsh but people who unironically still don't understand why he left the club at that time are either uninformed, ignorant or too blinded by their subjective bias. LFC was pretty much irrelevant for most of the 2010s, even when Klopp arrived it took him 3-4 years and a whole new squad to create a sustainable winning culture at the club but by that time Torres had already won 4 major club trophies elsewhere and was past his prime anyway. Regardless how "underwhelming" his time at Chelsea was, his decision to leave Liverpool back then was definitely reasonable.
