Had fun with Tress of the Emerald Sea. It’s like 85% high seas pirate fantasy and 15% sci fi

Another really good fantasy book is The Night Circus. It is probably one of my favorite books. It’s about two magicians who are in a lifelong duel against each other, but they end up falling in love. It has two stories in it, the main one being about the magicians, and the other one being about a boy who is fascinated by the circus. You wonder how the stories are connected until the end when it all pieces together. The time frame of the book is mid 1800s to early 1900s. Idk if it’s considered adult or young adult. I think it’s on the fence. I read it when I was twelve, but there was a bit of a spicy scene in there. However, it did time skip to a new scene before it got too detailed. Still, I probably should have waited till I was older to read it. Overall, it is an amazing book. You honestly can’t find a book like it anywhere else. It is so creative and unique. Not one part is cliché or ‘been there done that.’ Also, you get completely lost in the detail of the setting. I can still imagine every nook and cranny of the night circus itself. It makes me wish it was a real place. My only issue was that it took me a while to get into. The words confused me because of the difference in vocabulary used in the 1800s-1900s compared to now, but to be fair, I was only twelve, so it was extra confusing. 100% worth the read though. Also, sorry for writing a whole essay on why this book is so great, but I guess that goes to show how amazing it really is LOL 😂

Currently reading the finale of the daevabad trilogy and i think i'm loving it too much. This is one of the few times i'm actually in love with the world building.

So I want recommendations for fantasy with a splash of romance. Not necessarily romantasy, just a main ship or two that I can fangirl over. So if romantasy is 60% - 70% romance and 30% - 40% fantasy, I want books the exact opposite.

I’m currently reading The Serpent & the Wings of Night and I’m glad you enjoy it as much as I do.

@books_and_crafts would you please consider giving me a suggestion or doing a list video of ones that aren’t 🌶️. Just finished the book of doors. I’d really enjoy your list of suggestions 🫶🏼🙂👋🏼 you have lovely taste in books. I tend to not enjoy spice or gore.

Just wondered if you had any offering for a reader like me. Book of doors was a bit short. But very good. I love magic and a little not knowing. Almost mystery but not quite. If you happened to read this thank you for that. 🥰signed- A new mom who had lots of time glued to a couch with a sleeping baby. I’m just getting into adult level fantasy books. I was reading Diana wynne jones and Harry Potter to my older kids and decided it’s time to find some books to enjoy.

Tress of the emerald sea is worth it!!! it’s now one of my favorite books and it got me to read everything else by Brandon Sanderson (though I’m nowhere near done, it’s my plan at least)

Dresden Files is gold, especially in the urban fantasy niche specifically.

Please go read Dreams of Crimson Plague by Susan Samadi! I read an ARC copy, and it's a fast paced, action filled dark fantasy (no romance) that I honestly could not put down!

I also had mild issues with When the Mood Hatched but overall I very much enjoyed it! I buddy read it with a coworker and she typically smokes me when we read together but I literally INHALED it lol. Books that long typically take me 2 weeks since I have a hard time getting myself to read outside of the weekend but I literally wanted to do nothing but consume WTMH and finished it in a little over a week. I purchased Tress of the Emerald Sea a few weeks ago and was thinking about buying another copy to give to her for Christmas so we can buddy read that one together as well!

Throwing in some love for the Farseer trilogy by Robin Hobb!!! starts with Assassin’s Apprentice. They’re chunky books but full of so much. And if you like them there’s a bunch of books all in the same line. Hook is What if Magic was real but also addictive?
