Last Man Standing is in the long line of similiar stories - Miller's Crossing by the Coen Brothers, Fistful of Dollars by Sergio Leone, Yojimbo by Kurasowa. All of them, telling the same story, are based on Dashiell Hammett's 1929 novel Red Harvest, set in Butte, Montana. The main character is called The Continent Op, and the great Irish rocker Rory Gallagher wrote a song by that name (look it up on Youtube) as he was a great fan of detective fiction. Connections. :)
