Written, Performed, and Recorded by Adam Young.

He doesn’t fight crime or wear a cape
He doesn't read minds or levitate
But every time my world needs saving
He’s my superman

Some folks don’t believe in heroes
Cause they haven’t met my dad

He loves his workshop and rock n roll
He’s got a hot rod and a heart of gold
And you could say he’s a man of few words
But he talks a lot within

And even thought I’m a little taller
I still look up to him

He built me a house in the arms of a tree
He taught me to drive and to fight and to dream
When he looks in my eyes I hope he can see that
My dad’s a hero to me

Rust ridden fenders and doors full of dings
Somehow he can fix about anything
I didn’t think he knew how to cry until our dog died that year
He doesn’t always say I love ya
But I can hear him loud and clear

He built me a house in the arms of a tree
He taught me to drive and to fight and to dream
When he looks in my eyes I hope he can see that
My dad’s a hero to me

I showed this song to my dad, and there were tears in his eyes.

To all dads, you're awesome!!!

Leaving my original comment for context, but I'm changing it a bit. When I wrote this, I didn't know about how broken this world really is. I was naive. So many people have commented on this though, and I've actually seen more since I finished high school, and I know now, that as sad as it is, there are absent fathers in the home.

To all REAL dads out there. The ones who are there for their kids, and who care: you're amazing.

My dad passed away tonight. I showed this song to him three years ago and he cried. He really is my hero, I don’t want to live without him. I love you dad, thank you for everything.

I just love how most singers are writing songs about sex and then there's Adam who writes a song for his dad for father's day. This is why Adam will always be one of my favourites <3

Don’t mind the grammy awards, mtv award, billboard awards. Don’t you all worry, Owl City’s music will last an endless lifetime. :)

Some people are unhappy with him releasing more matured music as Owl City instead of his own name, but reminder: the first line of the liner notes on every Owl City album ever says;
"Owl City is Adam Young"

I might not have that kind of father, but I wish that my children would 😊

Adam Young is like one of those musicians who doesn't give a fuck about what's going on in the world. He just keeps making music in his basement.

My dad’s a doctor, his day and night job is saving lives. He’s a hero to not just me, but to many many others too. This hits hard.

I love how much you can tell Adam is at that place finally where he can do what he loves; make music. And not only that but about what he loves; his family, his life, and God. He's come so far and I'm so proud.

I love the progression of Adam's music... From silly and sweet to personal and heartfelt. This is lovely ❤️

This is the saddest song I've heard since my father died on Father's Day. He died after struggling with cancer he suffered for 7 years.

This song really represents how my father was in his life. I've never seen him cry, and he taught me not to cry over the little things. He is good at cooking. Whenever we got an order, my father always helped my mother cook. He always sewed my torn uniform, and taught me not to always buy new things if they could be repaired. He always helps me finish school projects related to electricity and mechanics. He always fixes things that are broken at home. We almost never buy new things when they break.
My father can do anything extraordinary.

I miss him so much after a month I didn't see his face again. But he always taught me to stay dependent on God, even when he wasn't around. He taught me to see that in suffering, the name of God is exalted.

Thank you Adam for your beautiful song ❤️
