btw here’s the real story of Michigan railroad 311: she was never a 2-8-4 she was originally a 4-8-2 mountain type but in 1930 she went to the Lima locomotive works to be overhauled with a new design now being a 4-8-4 steam locomotive with a cylinder blocking her bell front so it was moved near her whistle which was originally a 3 chime steam whistle but was changed to a 5 chime due to some water getting stuck inside her original 3 chime. she then looked like the later blue comet but was in a black paint. On July 1st 1938 she broke the record as the fastest 4-8-4 steam Loco in America while pulling the blue comet since the blue comet engine ran out of coal and water which then she received her nickname the black comet. Now here’s where things get really spooky. October 21st 1962. 311 was pulling a express train from Washington DC to Chicago. The trip went well. clear signals and no signs for derailment. that is until 2:31 am. as 311 was going down a pass. her brakes failed and she couldn’t stop. she was going about 80 mph when she ran away. plus there were 70 passengers aboard. The engineer had to find some where to save his passengers. he told the conductor to tell everyone to jump off the train before the next sharp curve. when they got to curve 126. everyone jumps off and.. disaster strikes….. 311 jumps off the track into the river where she was badly damaged. they recovered the coaches but they never recovered 311. She was nowhere to be found. And thus her ghost soul was born. The first encounter was in 1978 when a diesel freight was working through around 3 am when he saw the ghost soul of 311 with red lights and red steam. people still see 311 in fact she’s gone all around the world because of how angry her soul was. she’s killed 721 people and scrapped 252 trains and engines. that’s what really happened
