Labour Reforms | Understanding Child Labour

This video lecture is an explanation of various dimensions of Labour Reforms. Labour Reforms is a topic under Economy in GS Paper 3 of UPSC Mains examination. This particular video throws light upon the fundamental dilemma of bringing about reconciliation between providing the social security to the labour force, increasing the labour wage and at the same time ensuring that the cost of production does not shoot up. It talks about the issue and challenges of labour reforms in India. The provisions of the Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act 1979, Industrial Disputes Act 1976, The Apprentices Act 1961 are covered in the lecture. Major issues relating to the labour sector and the ways to resolve them are discussed. Additionally, the recently introduced social sector schemes and their significance with respect to labour reforms, their impact on the manufacturing sector are also discussed in the video.
