Thanks for posting the video. I loved the camera angle and being able to see the fish hit. I do have a couple tips for you, as I do this type of fishing all the time. 1) Keep your clickers on (like you did) but have your drags as light as possible so that you hear it when a fish hits (like the second fish). However, once you grab the rod, tighten the drag a bit, turn the clicker off and then start reeling. 2) When a fish hits a rigger, before you take the rod out of the holder, reel as fast as possible to get it tight and then remove the rod from the holder. That reduces the chances of giving the fish slack and losing it. 3) If you have a bow mount trolling motor, run that on 3-4 setting along with your kicker or big engine for steering and auto-pilot. That way, when you get a big fish like you did, you can take the gas motor out of gear and just keep the boat moving forward with the TM while you focus on the fish. 4) With boards, you will need to tighten the drag to reel them in, but as soon as you take the board off, loosen the drag some or you will lose fish when they make that last run at the boat. I learned all of those things the hard way! Cheers! Nice brown trout! That was a monster.

I used to live in Buffalo. Never ever went fishing in Erie. Darn. Missed a bet that time. When I eventually got back to SOCAL, I fished a whole lot in the Pacific. On boat, off the beach and pier. Great fishing. Took a lot of trial and error to figure them finicky SOCAL fish out. But eventually, I did. No YouTube back then to teach me the shortcuts.

My uncle's a plumber and he says to never pick up a brown trout unless you have rubber gloves on.

Always loved you guys who left the clicker on. I operated a rod/reel repair shop for over 40 years and clicker repair always led the pack.

You guys fishing off Barcelona or Dunkirk?

I love to fish Erie as well. We head out near Monroe Mi. You had a nice flat Lake that day. You know how Erie can be. Thanks for posting.

I thought that was a muskie for sure. I would have put thay fish in the live well for a bit to let it rest and see if it was going to make it or not. Im not to sure that one did, but that happens, and have you ever thought about turning off the clicker when reeling in?
