How to overnight hike and camp in Romero Canyon near Tucson, AZ.
Note that the $5 overnight parking fee in Catalina State Park is *in addition to* any entrance fees you might need to pay. I always get an annual State Park permit, so the only charge is $5, but if you do not have an annual permit you'll have to pay the entry fee as well.

I camped at the spot 5 miles in last weekend. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thank You for the tour and hike, I am processing all the hikes in the Tucson area as this is all new to Me. I am retiring from Maine to Tucson, to take advantage of the great outdoors, climate weather an d desert. Hiking and biking in the wilds is reward enough and I can't wait...Tim

I hear the cougars have a name for a hiker wrapped in a hammock. It's "burrito".
I'm too old and arthritic to make the hike to Romero Pass. I have to be satisfied with the Canyon Loop. Thanks for the guided tour.

Just got back from camping at the site just past the pools. Thanks for the video, gave me a little preview before I left. Total cost was $12 for the one night.

Thanks for posting the video. We're both lucky to live in such a beautiful place. Love Romero pools, never went past that pools, but maybe someday... scared of the mountain lions though.

I just did a day hike to "high camp" 4 weeks ago (I have a video of that too) - so much water this year!!! I had planned to go to Romero Pass but turned around just past this campsite. Definitely a spot I'd like to come back to :) thanks for sharing!

Hey thanks for the video. Question- In the intro and ending, where are you hiking?? Also, What kind of animal encounters have you had? what kind of preparation do you take for them?

We just did this hike yesterday to scout out the campsites... found the first one past the pools, but never came across the other two. Are they off to the right, along the creek? We went all the way up the side of the canyon on the left... are they beyond that? Nevertheless, a beautiful hike on a gorgeous day! Any hints you can provide would be appreciated.
