What saddens me as I get older is remembering my parents, my relatives and friends who have now passed. They were all good people and I deeply miss them.

I’m 88 with some serious health issues. Many of my friends are with the angels. My passion is quilting. One of my sewing machines is set up so I can sew quilts, placemats, tote bags, etc. I have 4 other machines too. I have a support group in a 12 Step program. I am content and “there is always more.” I’ll be learning till my last breath

66 divorced and disabled with osteoarthritis. I live with pain every day. However, I am happy and keep busy doing everything that I am able to. I don't have any close friends. I cherish my independence and not having to answer to anyone. Life is good. I worry more about the country than I do myself.

The hardest thing about getting old is losing your friends and your relatives your coworkers your neighbors. It’s like you don’t know anybody anymore where is used to run it to people you new every day. It takes a while to realize yes I am that old man in the picture. But having good health and enjoying the things that you can do is the most important.

Yes the hardest thing about getting old is when your family start to treat you like you don't have anything to say and it's not important to listen when you try to explain yourself

I am 72, and here are some of my rules for coping: 1. Write a short list of your next activities, late in the evening or early in the morning. Throughout the day, before tackling anything new, know what you will be doing directly after that and have everything set up to do it. Then before starting that new thing, set up for the next. For example, before taking a nap I know exactly what I will do when I wake up. 2. Read autobiographies and biographies. This will give you a greater perspective of what it means to be human, to suffer, and to overcome. 3. Don't drink any alcohol, don't over-medicate, don't overeat. 4. Feel gratitude. Every bad thing comes with good things too if you look for them. 5. Give up trying to solve the world's problems. Don't tell anyone else what to do. Focus on your own business only. If someone is annoying, stay quiet and move on. Life is too short for other people's craziness. 6. Focus on the future, and not the past. However long you have left, you can still build a better you.

In my view the weirdest experience is that the mind is still youthful but the body is getting old and weak. I look into the mirror and ask myself how can this be, 5 minutes ago I was 20 and felt I could do anything. And now I can see all this is coming to an end.

I’m 72 and I’ll never pursue my passions, and l have many. I live in a care center, not an old people’s home. Been here 9 years and will never get out of here. Why? My family’s dead, l have very little money, healths not that bad and that’s the worst part.l would be content to stare at the ocean and celebrate Christmas for another 15 years but it will never happen. I’m a pretty happy person in the right setting but most of the time life seems to get me 😅
down. Well, I.’m a believer and you never know. Bent your ear enough. Peace and long life to you all.

I am 77 and had a lung transplant 9 years ago. Although I am a bit slower I still weight train at the YMCA 2-3 times a week. I have been married to a truly good woman for 44 years and she makes all the difference. Planning to take the Great River Road along the Mississippi River from Natchez, Miss to Galena, Ill to spend time with my 81 year old brother this Fall. Last week my 5th grandchild, Violet was born. All things considered Life is as Good as it can be! God Bless!!

Elderly people living alone if they can afford to take care of a pet should all have a cat or a dog or a bird something to occupy their time and give them company each day just having a pet will give a person purpose

Best way to grow old... Just watch yourself every day, and laugh at the antics you get up to. Guarantee the older you get, the more you will laugh.

🧘 “Letting go of what was, embracing what is.” Aging challenges our identity, but it also opens doors. The woman who found joy in art after retirement — that gave me chills. Time to pick up that dusty guitar. 🎨🎶

The hardest part of getting old is getting old & the prejudice that comes with it from people who will get old too.
