As an only child I was never good enough or anything that my father expected me to be. this song kept me together for many years. I am 61 now and I did survive, this song helped me through a very dark childhood of inadequacy

Hold Your Head Up never ages, it's still a great song 50 years later, great job done by Argent for making this song.

As a young kid in the summer of '72 I heard this song on the radio often. The song is so hypnotic and powerful that I can visualize that summer with complete clarity when I hear it today.

This song held me up in the 70's. I am now nearly 70, but still love, and thankful for it.

I love this tune because it reminded me of ELP. Rod and Keith has that great organ sound that I was into in the day.

This was on the first Lp I ever bought...aged 9. One of those K-tel compilations. ..also featured Redbone and Deep Purple. Always gives me goosebumps to hear it!

Hold Your Head Up is the song that made me want to get an organ. I still can't afford a Hammond but I've got some pretty good Hammond emulators. Nothing quite matches the sound of those tone wheels though. It took me decades to realize they're singing "woman" after each "hold your head up" line.

Cracking live band. Just saw them the once in a small club above a pub in East London early 70s. Very loud.

To be fair, this isn't the story behind the song. This is an anecdote about how Rod realized the song became popular.

I love the long version but when the organ solo starts I can't help but hear the cowbell start wailing away! Was Bruce Dickinson yelling EXPLORE THE SPACE!!

I still remember when Kasey Casom introduced the song and band name, when it reached the top ten. He did a very cool introducción, comenting about the audience s' reaction to the song.

Thought the story would get into the creation of the lyrics. Though anyone can take benefit from the message, the lyrics are specifically geared toward women (if you read them). Not clearly articulated when the song is sung. Sounds like they're saying whoa, instead of woman, which I'm sure most people are hearing. I sure did, as a 16 year old hearing it when it first came out.
