It's so moving, to hear where Paul took up where John left off, but then hearing where George Harrison refers to John's melody in his guitar solo sent me over the edge.

Listen to this, knowing how he died, it makes me cry. A hell of a masterpiece

My best friend just passed away and he always loved this version more than the final. He always said it had more of the raw emotion without the final mix and listening to it now I see what he means. Rest In Peace Christian.

I grew up with the Beatles. I'm 68. When this came out, I felt the excitement I did when a new LP had been released, as if this were the first song to get air time. But after a day, I realized that there would be nothing more.

It’s so so hard to listen to because it’s too beautiful, it’s too perfect, you have tears streaming down your face I thought hearing Imagine at The Beatles Museum was hard but hearing the most iconic, haunting voice in musical history on this he actually did write it all I always assumed Paul had come up with the chorus/bridge when working on it but you hear John humming it, thank you Jeff Lynne for adding Paul George & Ringo’s parts perfectly

This song captures the Beatles for me.

"Whatever happened to, the life that we once knew."

"Da da da da da da da da da"

Took 20 years for McCartney to come back and fill those lyrics;

"Can we really live without each other?"

Tears in my eyes everytime I hear this. There will never be a songwriting partnership to top McCartney/Lennon, proven even after one of their deaths.

There is something so accomplished about this demo. It portrays openness, and a sense of comfort. And John's hums make it feel personal, as though he's singing to you in a room. I have been a Beatles fan since the first time Let it be was healing in my weakest times, and Free as a bird, provides me solace.

Can you imagine if Lennon never died and he released this? Love what the Beatles did with this song - but can’t imagine what other songs Lennon could of made….RIP

one of my favorite songs is a demo, simple and beautiful even with the missing lyrics, long live John Lennon.

Amazing to hear it on its own, not only shows the genius of Lennon for having written it but also the genius of Jeff Lynne for doing such a great job of producing the better known single version.
